Ingredients
Method
- In a small saucepan, combine honey with red pepper flakes and apple cider vinegar (if using). Heat gently for 5-7 minutes, then let steep for at least 15-20 minutes.
- Preheat a skillet over medium heat. Cook the beef bacon in a single layer for 8-12 minutes until crispy. Drain on paper towels.
- Wash, core, and thinly slice the Granny Smith apple to about 1/8-inch thickness.
- Grate or slice the sharp cheddar cheese.
- Butter one side of each slice of bread. On the unbuttered side, layer cheese, apple slices, crispy bacon, and drizzle with hot honey. Top with another layer of cheese and the remaining slices of bread, butter-side up.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and grill the sandwiches for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
Notes
For an extra layer of flavor, try adding a sprinkle of cinnamon to the apple slices before assembling the sandwich. It enhances the sweetness and pairs beautifully with the hot honey!
